Hypnotherapy for Insomnia

 Are you are unable to sleep throughout the night, or are you having difficulty staying asleep? Then you may be suffering from insomnia (sleeplessness) and you can claim the title of ‘insomniac’!

There are many causes of insomnia, including stress, depression, alcohol, caffeine, a change in daily routine or even a lack of change! Other causes can be emotional or physical pain, or grief. And it’s possible that you have a cause I haven’t mentioned.

It is not a unique problem, but the way you experience it is unique!

Are you running an ongoing commentary in your mind of the previous day’s events, or reliving stresses and traumas from your past? Are you having trouble getting your mind to shut off? Are you worried about that important presentation/meeting tomorrow? Maybe you feel restless and full of energy and can only doze off just as the sun is rising. Do you fall asleep for an hour or two then wake in the middle of the night, all charged up and ready to go?

Whatever it is, you probably feel exhausted and irritable in the morning and the throughout the day. Your nerve endings are raw, and you are unable to cope with the simplest of tasks. 

Insomnia lowers your mental capabilities and physical stamina. The desperate need for a good night’s sleep becomes unbearable. You start to feel apprehensive when going to bed. You keep thinking that you haven’t slept for so many [insert the number here] nights, and tonight, surely, you will get some sleep…

You are not greedy – just 4 hours of undisturbed sleep would be nice; 6 would be heaven!

There are many treatments for insomnia, including medication such as sleeping aids, altering established sleeping habits, Ayurveda, herbal medicine, yoga, aromatherapy, acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, and Feng Shui.

And let’s not forget the all time favourites: warm milk and counting sheep!

But the therapy most successful in bringing immediate results in treating insomnia in the shortest possible time is Hypnotherapy!

Insomnia is one of the ways your body and mind lets you know that something isn’t right. The way for you to correct this is to go deep into your subconscious and get the right answers. Only you know what those answers are, and only through hypnosis can you get to them.

After using techniques called ‘Progressive Body Relaxation’ and ‘Imagery’ – where you imagine yourself in your favourite place to relax - your subconscious is ready to do some exploring and find those important answers.  

When you know the cause, you can start dealing with it. Again, this is achievable through hypnosis and the solutions are implemented straight into your subconscious.

There is no ‘trial and error’ when you work with your subconscious – when it’s done, it’s done! The only side effect you may experience while you are in hypnosis is ...you may fall asleep! Experienced Hypnotherapists will recognise this immediately and bring you back to a lighter hypnotic state, so you can continue with the work at hand. 

Techniques of self-hypnosis are also taught, so you can practise at home and continue to strengthen what you have achieved during your Hypnotherapy sessions.
